RESEARCH SERVICES AVAILABLE


Upon request, the Genealogical Committee will conduct family research of a limited scope.

If the family being searched was in the county from about 1782 the sources searched are marriage records, deed and minute book records, some will records from 1782 to 1850, tombstone records and death records.  There are records from Frederick, Page, and Rockingham, Warren counties that are available for searching.  Sometimes there is information in family history books, old newspapers and the internet. 

The Shenandoah Room at the Shenandoah County Library in Edinburg, VA has a wonderful collection of books and microfilm consisting of original marriage bonds, Valley Herald newspapers and Shenandoah County US Census records.  In addition, old deeds, Wills and appraisals can be digitally photographed from the Court House and e-mailed.


Charges, for a 1-family surname search, are:

    2-hour genealogical research search ……            $20.00

    Copy Fees ……

         $1.00 per page that is photographed and e-mailed.

         $  .50 per page for copy from microfilm.

         $  .25 per page for copies of pages from books.

         There will be postage fee added for extra weight.

        Enclose a check or money order for $20.00, payable to SCHS,
        to start the search.  Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Additional information required:

To request a 2-hour search on a family Surname, give as much information as you have on that person.  Give person’s name, date of birth, date of death, marriage date, spouse’s name, children’s name or as much of this information as is possible.   

If any information is located, the copy fees will be sent along with the research information found, if any.
